On 6 December 2019, H.E. Ambassador Edward Xolisa Makaya, presented his letters of credence to the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Ms Vera Songwe. Ms Songwe expressed her support for South Africa for her coming Chairship of the African Union (AU) as she welcomed the Ambassador. The Executive Secretary expressed her wish to have a well-coordinated working method with the AUPRC, where their quarterly meetings will be quite robust and interactive as they look at ways and means to take the African Agenda forward collectively.
